About Ardbeg & Ardbeg House
Ardbeg’s tale began over 200 years ago in a rugged corner of Islay. Now, that same irrepressible spirit has come ashore at Ardbeg House — a new chapter in the island’s legendary story.
Eat, Sleep and Drink Ardbeg
On the shore of Port Ellen, where sea spray meets smoke, stands Ardbeg House - a place for those who come to Islay not just to visit, but to belong. More than a hotel, it’s a living, breathing celebration of the island’s spirit. A home for those who find beauty in wild weather, long stories and a dram shared by the fire.

Our Story
Ardbeg has always been a whisky with a wild heart. Saved from extinction in 1997, it rose again to become one of the world’s most loved smoky malts. Ardbeg House is the next chapter in that story — a way for guests to step inside the world they’ve tasted for years. Here, the character of Islay lives in every detail: bold, welcoming and just a little untamed.

There are twelve rooms, each telling a different story of Islay — from smugglers’ coves and sea monsters to monks, myths and northern raiders. Every space is filled with crafted detail and hidden surprises, blending old tales with new comforts. Somewhere between luxury and legend, you’ll find your own place to coorie in.

Created in collaboration with Russell Sage Studio and more than twenty Scottish and Islay artisans, Ardbeg House is built from the island itself. Copper from a retired still glints in the walls.
A chandelier made from a fishing boat casts light over stories still being told. Every texture, pattern and surface whispers of the people who shaped it and of the whisky that inspired it all.

Every hotel stay includes an Ardbeg Distillery tour - your chance to step behind the smoke and see where the magic begins.
And at 18:15, as evening settles in, we raise a glass at Whisky Hour: a toast to the island, to Ardbeg, and to Badger Juice, a secret small-batch dram available only here.

At the heart of the House lies the Signature Restaurant, where the island’s finest produce meets relaxed, modern Scottish dining.
In the revived Islay Bar, locals and travellers gather for a dram, a story, and maybe a second round.
Step outside to the Courtyard and you’ll catch the scent of woodsmoke from the custom-built Ardbeg grill - a nod to the distillery’s wilder side.

For those who make the pilgrimage, two treasures await.
Ardbeg Homecoming, a small-batch release aged in bourbon and rum casks, celebrates the journey to Islay with tropical, smoky warmth.
And Ardbeg House Reserve, a 21-year-old limited edition aged in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, captures the soul of the House itself — rare, rich and unforgettable.

Ardbeg House is a love letter to Islay. From its stories, its craft, and its people.
Whether you arrive by sea, through the clouds, or simply by curiosity, you’ll find yourself welcomed like an old friend.
Here, you don’t just stay. You belong.
