Ardbeg House has a minimum age requirement of 18 years old for booking a hotel room. If you arrive at the hotel and are under 18 years of age you will not be permitted to stay alone. We may require photo ID as proof of age.
By using this Site or booking a room, you also agree:to use the Site for your personal use only, and in your personal name, excluding therefore any commercial or other use without our prior written consent,to provide, when relevant, personal data being true, up-to-date and accurate.
To make an online booking, please follow the instructions on the Site. You will be given the opportunity to check the details of your order and to amend any errors before you confirm your order. Bookings are subject to acceptance by us.
When your booking is confirmed, a reservation number is given. This number should be retained for access to your booking details if cancellation or amendment is necessary. You may need to quote this reservation number when contacting us.
All rates are subject to availability and all bookings are taken at the discretion of Ardbeg House.
All rates quoted are in pounds sterling, per room per night, are subject to availability and include Value Added Tax (VAT) at the current rate, and all applicable taxes payable in the UK, unless otherwise stated.
Special rates quoted cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount, offer or promotion.
The rates are only guaranteed at the time of reservation.
You will be asked to guarantee your booking with a debit or credit card including your 3 or 4 digit security code. We accept American Express, MasterCard, Maestro, Visa & Visa Delta.
Please note that the same card supplied will be used for pre-authorisation to cover incidentals during your stay.
A full non-refundable payment is required for promotional, seasonal and advance purchase rates at the time of booking.
If pre-payment is not required, then payment is due on departure from the hotel. However, for all bookings, pre-paid or not, we require a credit or debit card reservation to confirm the booking and may charge the full cost of your reservation by reference to our cancellation policy below.
Check-in is available from 3pm on your scheduled day of arrival.
Check-out is by 11am on the day of departure.
Late check-out may be arranged, subject to availability, and may incur an hourly charge at the hotel’s discretion. We are happy to store your luggage should you wish to extend your day on Islay.
STANDARD RATES - CANCELLATIONS
If you find it necessary to cancel or change your room reservation, please note the following cancellation charges apply:
Bookings cancelled/modified 14 days before stay – full refund (42 days for bookings of 6 or more rooms reserved)
Bookings cancelled/modified between 24 hours and 14 days – a charge will be made for one night's stay of the complete booking (or between 24 hours and 42 days if 6 or more rooms reserved)
Bookings cancelled/modified less than 24 hours or 'no show' – full charge for complete booking will be made
PROMOTIONAL RATES - CANCELLATIONS
Where your booking is at a promotional rate or for dates noted as special such as Christmas and New Year, please note a non-refundable deposit of the full stay, for each room, will be charged to your credit card at the time of booking. This will not be refunded if you cancel your booking, but we can however apply this deposit to another date for you.
CANCELLATION BY ARDBEG HOUSE
Very occasionally, we may have to cancel your booking. We will tell you as soon as possible and offer you an alternative accommodation of the same standard, or higher, or offer a full refund. We regret we cannot pay compensation or any reimbursement of any expenses or costs you may incur as a result of any such cancellation or change.
FORCE MAJEURE
Ardbeg House cannot accept responsibility or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of the contract is prevented or affected by reason of circumstances which amount to "force majeure". Circumstances amounting to "force majeure" include any event which we could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such circumstances include the destruction or damage of your accommodation (which cannot reasonably be remedied to a satisfactory standard before the start of your stay) through fire, flood, explosion, storm or other weather damage, break-in, criminal damage, riots or civil strife, industrial action, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, war or threat of war, actual or threatened terrorist activity, epidemic and all similar situations beyond our control.
Rooms secured by credit/debit card or prepayment will be held until 11.59pm on the day of arrival, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed directly with the hotel.
Failure to arrive will result in a charge of the full reservation amount.
All of our public areas – the Signature Restaurant and The Islay Bar and Courtyard - are fully accessible.
If you’re staying with us and require accessible access, please book the Legend Room as it is also fully accessible; and let our team know of any special needs so that we can give you a supported and comfortable stay.
Dogs are allowed in the Fèis, Legend, and Rebel rooms for an additional £15 pppn (per pooch per night). Well-behaved dogs are also allowed in the Islay Bar and courtyard area, although they are not permitted in the Signature restaurant.
Dogs must be supervised and kept under control at all times. Any damage or disturbance to other guests will be charged to the payment card on file.
We welcome children of all ages. Cots, extra beds or sofa beds can be arranged in select rooms.
Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
There is no dedicated parking at Ardbeg House. Limited on street parking is available nearby and guests may unload luggage at the main entrance before finding parking.
EV charging is available at the Port Ellen Ferry Terminal, and at the Port Ellen Filling Station - both locations are only minutes away from the House.
We are currently unable to offer gift vouchers.
A "Classic Ardbeg Tour and Core Range Tasting" is included in your stay at Ardbeg House - this is subject to the Ardbeg Distillery opening hours and availability.
You can upgrade to another experience at the Ardbeg Distillery for an additional fee.
Should the "Classic Ardbeg Tour and Core Range Tasting" not be available (for example if the Distillery is closed) it will be replaced by a tasting here at Ardbeg House.
If a Distillery tour is an important part of your visit, to avoid disappointment we recommend checking the Distillery opening hours before booking your stay.
Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout Ardbeg House. Access details will be provided upon check-in.
Ardbeg House is a strictly no-smoking property.
In the event of damage or loss to the contents of your room — including stains or excessive wear to soft furnishings or flooring — we reserve the right to charge the payment card used to secure the reservation for repair or replacement costs.
A group booking is defined as six or more rooms reserved under the same name or for the same purpose.
Group reservations are subject to a deposit schedule and separate cancellation policy. Please contact us on house@ardbeg.com directly for group enquiries.
This website ("Site") is operated by MacDonald & Muir Limited a company incorporated in Scotland, whose registered office is located at 6 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, EH2 2BD for the purpose of introducing and booking reservations at Ardbeg House, located at 18 Charlotte St, Port Ellen, Isle of Islay PA42 7DF ("Ardbeg House").
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before you use this Site. By using this Site for booking a room, you confirm your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by and comply with these Terms and Conditions. We may modify these Terms & Conditions from time to time so please review the Terms and Conditions whenever you use the Site as any changes are binding on you from the date that we make them. If at any time you do not wish to accept these Terms & Conditions then you should not use this Site.
These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings whether made online, by email or telephone. When you make a booking, your contract (which includes these terms and conditions) will be with Macdonald & Muir Limited / Ardbeg House.
